This guide provides best practices for enrolling fingerprints on the GOtime5 time clock to ensure quick and secure clock-ins and avoid future issues.
The Importance of Proper Enrollment
Most issues with fingerprint recognition are not caused by the device itself but by incorrect finger placement during the initial enrollment process. By focusing on two key techniques—Placement and Pressure—you can prevent most of these problems.
Placement: The employee should place their finger flat and centered on the sensor to capture the middle part of the fingerprint, which contains the most ridge detail. Avoid angling the finger or only using the tip.
Pressure: Use a firm, even press—just enough to capture the full print without distorting it. Avoid pressing too hard, as this can flatten the fingerprint.
Enrollment Process & Tips
During enrollment, the clock will prompt you to scan the same finger multiple times. Guide the employee to use the same placement and pressure for each scan to help the system create a complete and consistent fingerprint profile for accurate matching later. Additional Tips:
Ensure the employee's hands are clean and dry, as moisture, dirt, or lotion can affect the scan.
Use a finger with clear ridge detail. The thumb, index, or middle finger usually works best.
If an employee has worn fingerprints from manual labor, consider enrolling a different finger.
Enroll a backup finger for each employee as a redundancy in case the primary finger cannot be used.
Taking a minute to carefully enroll fingerprints helps avoid future problems and ensures the time clock runs smoothly.
