Important! Proper Fingerprint Placement
Enroll fingerprints the right way the first time for fast, reliable punches.
Most fingerprint recognition problems aren't caused by the clock. They come from incorrect finger placement during the initial enrollment. Getting two things right, placement and pressure, prevents most of these issues before they start.
The Two Keys to a Good Scan
1. PlacementPlace the finger flat and centered on the sensor so it captures the middle of the fingerprint, which has the most ridge detail. Don't angle the finger or use only the tip.
2. PressureUse a firm, even press, just enough to capture the full print without distorting it. Pressing too hard flattens the fingerprint.

During Enrollment
The clock asks you to scan the same finger three times. Have the employee use the same placement and pressure on every scan. Consistent scans give the clock a complete fingerprint profile, so it can match the employee quickly on every punch afterward.
Tip: Taking an extra minute to enroll carefully now saves troubleshooting later.

Start with Clean, Dry HandsMoisture, dirt, or lotion can affect the scan.
Choose a Finger with Clear RidgesThe thumb, index, or middle finger usually works best.
Work Around Worn FingerprintsIf an employee's prints are worn from manual labor, try enrolling a different finger.
Always Enroll a Backup FingerA second enrolled finger gives the employee a way to punch if their primary finger can't be used.
