How to Assign Labor Categories to Users

Control which employees see labor category prompts when clocking in.

Once your labor categories are created, you assign them to the employees.

Before You Start

Make sure you have completed the following steps first:

Assigning Categories to an Employee

  1. Log into TimeTrakGO with your administrator account.
  2. Navigate to Employees and open the employee's profile.
  3. Select the Labor Allocation tab.
  4. Assign the Employees Home Labor Allocation (Their default Department, or Job)
    1. This can be left blank, forcing the employee to choose upon clocking in. 
  5. Save the changes.

The next time that employee clocks in, they will be prompted to select an option from each assigned category before their punch is recorded.


What the Employee Sees

When an clocks in, they are prompted to select an option from each category that is set to "Required to clock in" before their punch is confirmed. For example, if you've assigned both a "Department" and a "Job" category, the employee selects or verifies their department and their job role before clocking in.

If the category is set as transferable, the employee will see a Transfer button during their shift. Tapping it lets them switch to a different category option without clocking out. TimeTrakGO records the time spent under each selection automatically.
